Matching the right price
Two cards with the same name and number can be worth very different amounts. A price only helps if it’s for your exact card.
What has to match
- Game and card. The same name can appear in several games, sets and years.
- Set and number. Reprints often share a name, and sometimes a number, across sets.
- Printing and variant. First editions, reverse holos, foils, parallels and promos can each have their own market.
- Condition or grade. A raw price usually reflects near-mint copies. A graded price depends on the grading company and the grade.
How TH3 COLL3CTIV3 handles it
When you look up a price, TH3 COLL3CTIV3 shows which card the source matched, with its set and number, the source name and when the price was looked up. If several cards fit, you pick yours before any price is used. Our current sources don’t confirm variants like first edition or reverse holo, or raw condition, so those are marked as not checked rather than verified.
When the source can’t resolve it
Enter a value you trust instead, such as recent sold prices for your exact variant in similar condition. TH3 COLL3CTIV3 keeps track of which values came from a source and which you entered, so you can always tell them apart.
Asking prices on active listings aren’t sales. Where a source separates sold prices from listings, TH3 COLL3CTIV3 shows which one you’re looking at.
